NAVAJO NATION VETERANS MEMORIAL

The Navajo Nation Veterans’ Memorial Park was established and dedicated in 1995 in Window Rock, AZ. The park is adjacent to the Office of President and Vice-President capitol building. The park was created to honor and recognize the many Navajos who served in the U.S. military. Native Americans serve in the United States Armed Forces at five times greater than the national average. Since 9/11, nearly 19% of Native Americans have served in the military, compared to an average of 14% of all other ethnicities. These numbers are astonishing, especially since Native Americans represent only 2.9% of the total U.S. population, according to the 2020 census data.
